Design Your Neighborhood engages youth through an educational curriculum that provides design-based learning and thinking skills. Students become active participants in understanding and engaging with the built environment - serving to expand civic awareness and confidence in creating positive change within their communities. The curriculum provides 4-12 weeks of classroom instruction that can be adapted to 5th - 12th grade Social Studies and elective courses that have a service-learning focus.
During the workshop, educators will become familiar with community planning and design content through engaging with the curriculum resources. They will also receive one on one planning support for implementation in their classroom.
This workshop is free of charge, and lunch will be provided.
