volunteer in DYN classrooms

As Nashville grows, citizen engagement and understanding of the built environment will be essential to ensuring that we develop into a city that is healthy, functional, and beautiful for all. To develop our next generation of informed citizens, the Nashville Civic Design Center has partnered with Metro Nashville Public Schools teachers and a research team at Vanderbilt University to develop project-based curriculum that explores issues of transportation and affordable housing in Nashville. Project descriptions are below.

We need local professionals to partner with us in making these projects come to life in classrooms. We are looking for volunteers to help students with projects by advising them in small groups and giving feedback during final presentations.

Minimum Commitment:

  • Prepare for volunteering by reviewing the volunteer manual and/or watching the training webinar (linked below).

  • Make two one-hour visits to a classroom.

  • Attend the end of year showcase in May.
